Clio
CLIO is an advanced system for cataloguing cultural heritage, designed to simplify, standardise and enhance cultural data management through the use of semantic technologies.
Developed in collaboration with Reply Whitehall and for the Central Institute for Cataloguing and Documentation (ICCD) of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, CLIO natively adopts ArCo and national ontologies, enabling a structured, consistent and interoperable description of Italian cultural heritage from the earliest stages of data entry.
Traditionally, cataloguing systems require a high level of technical expertise and involve a considerable amount of time for data entry and updating. CLIO overcomes these critical issues by offering a modern and intuitive user interface that guides the cataloguer through the data entry process, while ensuring compliance with national semantic standards.
The system is designed to produce data that is immediately usable as Linked Open Data, facilitating reuse, interconnection and publication on open platforms. Furthermore, thanks to the modularity and scalability of its architecture, CLIO adapts to different institutional contexts, from small museums to large central administrations.
